Our Sustainability Approach

Message

Expanding design’s power to move society forward, together with our stakeholders.

Guided by our mission to prove the power of design and our vision to move the world forward with design that moves people, Goodpatch seeks to solve social challenges of every kind through design.

To prove the power of design, we must grow our business and put that power to work throughout society. We will continue exploring the potential of design that moves people and confronting challenges through co-creation with partners and other stakeholders. Through design-led solutions, we aim to expand the circle of positive change and progress across society.

Four material themes

To address social challenges through design, Goodpatch has grouped the material issues we must confront into four themes.

Each theme is essential to long-term value creation and to realizing the society we envision. We will continue strengthening our initiatives in these areas.

How we identify material issues

  1. Identify and organize candidate issues

Select potential material issues for Goodpatch with reference to guidelines including the SDG Compass, GRI, and SASB.

  2. Review from stakeholder perspectives

Interview internal and external stakeholders about the selected candidate issues.

  3. Determine material issues

Finalize the material issues following approval by the Sustainability Committee and Management Committee.

Design for Talent

We believe that the growth of people drives the growth of both our business and our organization. We therefore work to improve how we recruit and develop employees while expanding opportunities for them to thrive. Our mission to prove the power of design is inseparable from raising the value of designers in society. To advance that value, we are looking toward transforming longstanding industry practices such as excessive working hours and low compensation. By creating more environments where designers can demonstrate their value through co-creation with partners, we aim to increase the number of companies and organizations that prove the power of design and help build a society where designers can flourish.

Designer recruitment and career development

Goodpatch wants to remain a company where people grow. By understanding each employee’s Will—what they want to pursue—and matching it with the right opportunities, we seek both the company’s growth and each person’s self-realization. Through ReDesigner, our career support service dedicated to designers, we also provide career opportunities that enable more designers to contribute at companies that believe in the power of design.

Design for Society

We aim to contribute to solving social challenges through design and to help realize a sustainable society. Environmental issues, declining birthrates, aging populations, and demographic change are difficult problems without obvious answers. We believe design offers an effective way to reach answers that logic alone cannot reveal. Across the Goodpatch Group, we operate with consideration for the environment and propose design-led solutions to partners, communities, and other stakeholders throughout society. We also believe that encouraging more designers to engage with social challenges is a responsibility of a design company that helps lead the industry. By strengthening the design community, we will propose a society where everyone can live comfortably and be themselves.
